Top 5 linux distro 2013

There are many Linux distributions out there, but there is very little that is really for beginners. So I chose 5 distro fit that category. You may want to know about the factors that I consider when choosing the Top 5. Well, out of the box support is very important in choosing a beginner distro. Other factors include: User friendly UI, ease of installation and great online support. The distributions below the famous superior in the area.

1. Ubuntu 12.10

Ubuntu is # 1 and the most popular distro out there. Although compared to Linux Mint better for new users, Ubuntu has a strict release cycle and tend to have more features implemented in each release. Ubuntu does not come with the burden of software and codecs pre-installed such as Linux Mint. So new users may have trouble playing certain media formats and may require some command line installation. However, because of good community support they can be sorted out in a few minutes.Ubuntu user interface itself is called "unity". Unity desktop interface has come a long way and is equipped with many unique features that can not be found in other desktop. Ubuntu 12:10 add features users even more friendly to unity and only the best distribution for the average linux user.http://www.ubuntu.com/

 2. Linux Mint 14

Linux Mint is known as the second most popular Linux distribution just as user friendly. It comes with a lot of software that care is taken by the team, the media codecs and drivers. Distro works well out of the box you will not spend any time trouble shooting. Distro is focused on what is best for the user and provide what mainstream linux user requests (most of the time). Linux Mint 14 comes in 3 editions. Cinnamon edition includes modern Gnome 3 desktop with a familiar and traditional layout. MATE desktop edition comes with Gnome 2. Compared with cinnamon editions, editions MATE more stable but quite boring and KDE editions. Cinnamon is a fairly new desktop that is being developed by a team of mint.Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu Canonical.http://www.linuxmint.com/

 3. Pinguy OS 12.04 LTS

Pinguy OS is an Ubuntu-based distribution that comes with a LOT of software installed. This is great for users who want to explore the extensive Linux software has to offer. It is also very convenient because it covers almost all of the software that the user might need. Pinguy OS is a distro that is fairly new but it is gaining popularity quickly. Pinguy OS includes two default Docks and overall look of the desktop lean toward OS X. Pinguy OS including customized 12:04 gnome-shell.http://pinguyos.com/

 4. Zorin OS

Zorin OS is optimized for users who are transitioning from a window. It looks quite similar to Windows 7 and comes with a "view Zorin changer" that can make your desktop look like an older version of Windows and Mac OS X. Zorin OS also offers four premium version (Ultimate, Business, Multimedia, Gaming) available after donating. There is also a free version that does not come with a lot of software installed.http://zorin-os.com/

 5. Peppermint OS 3

Peppermint OS is very lightweight distro that comes with LXDE desktop envioronment. LXDE is very easy to use and many will feel a direct DE. OS boots up fairly quickly which makes it ideal for older computers or netbooks. Peppermint OS 3 is based on Lubuntu 12:04.
